Charity Football Match for Leep1
Raising money for a good cause
On Wednesday 16th May, Leeds City Academy hosted an inter-school charity football match to support Leep1.
The afternoon was a huge success and the teams raised an incredible £92 for the local charity.
Leep1 helps people with a learning disability speak up for themselves. Students were inspired to fundraise for this charity after learning more about the work they do in their Diana Award Mentoring Programme.
Keen to get the whole Academy on board, the students decided to run a 5-aside football tournament and invite peers and members of Leep1 to watch.
Year 7 played against Year 8 teams, whilst Year 9 took on Year 10 with the winners of the matches being awarded with trophies.
Mr Stott said: “There was over 45 pupils playing football in good spirit, their enthusiasm towards Football is second to none. It is great to see our young people willing to donate money for a great charity in our community.”
