Democracy with Children’s Voice Event
Children’s Voice Event at The University of Leeds
On Thursday 2nd March, four students from Leeds City Academy attended the annual ‘Children’s Voice Event’ at the University of Leeds, hosted by Leeds City Council.
Democracy was the focus of this event, in which students have their say as to the safety of the surrounding area in which the school is located, in addition to the activities available for children during school holidays. Throughout the event, students took part in a range of interactive activities and met with local councillors to express their views and opinions. They also enjoyed an undergradute lunch in the refectory and had an exciting tour around The University of Leeds campus.
Ms Ward said: "The highlight of the tour was the visit to the vast University Library, predominantly used by PhD students, which houses 2.8 million books, some of which are hundreds of years old."
The day culminated in students spending the allocated annual budget on activities they would like introduced into the Inner North West area of Leeds during holiday periods.
