Restart a Heart Day

Gaining the knowledge to save lives

On Monday the 16th October, Leeds City Academy took part in the Restart a Heart Day -a British Heart Foundation annual initiative which aims to train as many people as possible in CPR within one day.

140 students in Years 7, 8 & 9 took part at various stages throughout the day.  The volunteers who assisted Academy staff included employees from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Services, St James’s Oncology unit, a recently qualified nurse and a 4th year medical student from the University of Leeds.

Ms Ward said: "The students actively engaged with the process and enjoyed the activities.   Moving forward, the Academy will continue to train students in CPR techniques and contribute to the British Heart Foundation ethos of increasing cardiac arrest survival rates by creating a ‘Nation of Lifesavers.’"
