Salters Festival of Chemistry
Students Compete in University Challenge
Four Year 8 students from Leeds City Academy attended The University of Leeds for the Salters Festival of Chemistry, which brought together eleven competing schools.
Ms Booth, Science Technician, said: "We had a great day. The students took part in two challenges - The Salters Challenge and The University Challenge. We came second in The University Challenge, being beaten only by St John's Fischer Catholic School, however, we finished above The Grammar at Leeds who came third."
The pupils worked independently and were judged on results, teamwork, practical skills and the quality of their written report. Students then had a chemical demonstration with liquid nitrogen, dry ice and hydrogen balloons.
