Year 11 kick off a new season
Leeds City Academy has kicked off a new football season with great success. On Monday 25th September, the Year 11 football team played in the first round of the English Small Schools Cup against Ackworth High School.
Mr Hill, said: "The boys started off quite nervy with Ackworth applying some early pressure before Gilson managed to score the first goal for Leeds City Academy to settle the early nerves. This helped the boys gain confidence and momentum to score a further 5 goals before half time. Ackworth once again came out strong in the second half, scoring a superb free kick from just outside the box. However, the boys managed to regain their foothold in the game and continue to attack scoring a further 8 goals before full time."
Goals came from Gilson (x7), Muzamel (x3), Luis, Aron and Claudiu. As an extra recognition to Gilson's seven goals, Duncan was given the man of the match by Mr Hill and Mr Carrington for his mature performance and attitude controlling the centre midfield as the captain.
Principal Ms Rose added: "Well done to our Year 11 footballers who have demonstrated their exceptional skills in the first round of the season. Leeds City Academy is incredibly fortunate to have such sporting talent and we thank Mr Hill and Mr Carrington for driving forward these talents to secure success on the field. Well done everyone."
