WRAT vs Wetherby High School

On January 30th, the White Rose Academies Trust Football Team played against Wetherby High School.

The boys played some amazing football and managed to secure a very comfortable 4-0 win!

What an amazing result! Please read the highlights below -

Luke - Another fine performance from Luke at left back. He was able to help contribute to White Rose Academies’ first clean sheet and helped to constantly change defence into attack down the left hand side.

Brad - Solid as a rock at centre back in what is now becoming one of White Rose Academies’ strongest areas of the team. Brad controlled the centre of defence and whilst playing with less experienced players was able to support and guide them to a clean sheet.

Kerubale -  Playing only his second game at centre back, Kerubale had a solid performance and was awarded man of the match. Both Kerubale and Brad were the heart of the team against Wetherby, providing great protection for the WRA’s keeper.

Cody – Another solid performance from Cody at right back who linked really well with Ben (RM). Showing his experience in the role, Cody was able to show his great footwork when outwitting his opponent on numerous occasions.

Ben - Starting the game as right midfield, Ben played very well in getting up and down the pitch and providing chances for the strikers. He had a couple of good efforts saved and delivered some very good corners leading to WRA chances.

Brad - As part of a new central midfield, pairing Brad was calm and controlled in helping turn defence into attack. He was strong, battled well and played a role in a number of key chances that were created.

Fredlin - Fredlin started the game in centre midfield and battled away, winning some big tackles in the middle and feeding the attackers. Fredlin showed his versatility during the second half by switching to an attacking position. Again, Fredlin used his pace to win the ball in the middle and create further chances in attack which resulted in Fredlin scoring the 4th goal of the game!

Theo -What a performance! Theo started on the left wing but often combined to make a front 3 when WRA were attacking. He scored 3 and got an assist with the pick of the bunch being a shot from outside the area that flew over the keeper into the top left corner.

Daniel - Daniel had yet another fantastic performance for the team, holding the ball up well and linking up with Theo to create lots of chances. Daniel’s attitude and work rate throughout the game was exceptional and is a key striker for team!

Harrison - Playing in the striker position alongside Theo, Harrison, who is every defenders nightmare, managed to pile on the pressure on the opposition with his lightning speed. Although Harrison did not score I’m confident his goal will come in the upcoming fixture.

Gerrard – Gerrard who also came on in the second half played CM, managing to stay calm and composed on the ball he was able to break down Wetherby’s defence by putting some fantastic balls through to the strikers Theo and Harrison.

Joshua – Super sub, Josh came on in the second half in the LM position, having great success at beating his opponent he was able to put numerous balls in the box to help maintain the pressure.

Mr Major, Mr Kelly and Mr Carrington had this to say about the result: "We as a three are extremely proud of the team, the boys are showing improvements every game, not only in the way they are playing football, but in their relationships with each other.

"We are very excited to watch them play in the next fixture."
