Year 9 in Leeds Rhinos League

Season concludes with Guard of Honour display

Leeds City Academy's Year 9 rugby team have concluded their season with an appearance in the Leeds Rhinos Rugby League competition at Corpus Christi Catholic College.

Mr Hill said: "The boys' progress over the three competitions has been fantastic and evident for all to see. Along with this, they have shown great attitude, performance and resilience in challenging games. The stand out performers over the three competition dates have been, Calum and Leandro with huge improvements from Denzel and Demiko."

Students from the rugby team and the BTEC Sport class also attended the televised Leeds Rhinos vs Huddersfield Giants match on 24th April, conducting the guard of honour on the pitch before the game. All members of staff were extremely proud and as students came back into the stand from the pitch, they said, “That was amazing! One of the best things I have ever done!”

Ms added: "They have attended practices, games and tournaments and shown great commitment throughout the school year. They are also BTEC PE students who are excelling in the classwork. Students conducted the guard of honour, waving the flags as the players came out of the tunnel, and also did the pitch flags for the match sponsors in front of 13,000 supporters! Students thoroughly enjoyed the match and are looking forward to their last tournament of the season after watching the professionals play!"
