Chandini graduated from Keble College, University of Oxford in 2011 with a Masters in Chemistry. After graduating she trained as a broadcast journalist for BBC News 24 and thereafter worked as a news correspondent. In 2012 she enrolled on the Graduate Teacher Programme with the Institute of Education, University of London and began her teaching career at Bethnal Green Academy in Tower Hamlets, East London.
Bethnal Green Academy underwent a challenging journey from 'special measures' to 'outstanding' in all categories in just four years, and was also recently awarded the 2nd most improved school in the country for pupil progress. In 2013 Chandini took the role of Head of KS5 Science, having secured the highest A-Level outcomes in the faculty, and a year later was promoted to Deputy Director of Sixth Form. In this role, Chandini led on teaching and learning across the Sixth Form, and shared strategies to promote student independence and resilience across both the Sixth Form and whole school. This culminated in an overall ALPs score increase of 2 points in the first year.
Chandini has experience of successful change management and leading teams, at whole school, Sixth Form and departmental level. She has driven the transformation of the curriculum and implemented rigorous tracking systems, thereby advancing teaching standards. Chandini cares passionately about raising the attainment of all students and brings this passion to improving KS4 outcomes at Leeds City Academy.
