Luke Pollard began his career through Teach First in 2011 as an ICT teacher at Leeds West Academy, becoming the ICT and Business Subject Leader twelve months later. In 2014, he was appointed Lead Practitioner for Computing, leading the Computing departments at Leeds West Academy and Leeds East Academy, launching a new curriculum to develop crucial computing and programming skills for students across The White Rose Academies Trust.
He has contributed to educational training programmes across the country, twice returning as a Lead Subject Tutor for the Teach First Leadership Development Programme and leading training sessions for both the PGCE and School Direct programmes at the University of Leeds. Luke is currently completing his Masters in Educational Leadership alongside the CMI Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring qualification, having secured his NPQML qualification in 2016.
A graduate of the Teaching Leaders Fellows programme, Luke successfully applied for an Associate Assistant Principal in 2015, leading on curriculum development, the GCSE options process and timetabling. In 2016 Luke took on a broader role leading on data, tracking & LS4 achievement. Since September 2017, Luke has been deployed at Leeds City Academy as Assistant Principal for Key Stage 4.
From a single parent, free school meals background, Luke is steadfast in making every effort to ensure that the achievement and future options of students' achievement is never determined by their economic situation.
