Catherine Byfield 

Associate Assistant Principal: Quality of Education 

Catherine has always been passionate about the Arts. She gained a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art at Sunderland University before engaging in the development of community arts projects across the North of England. After exhibiting her artwork in a number of venues across the country, she completed a PGCE in Secondary Art & Design at Bretton Hall and settled in West Yorkshire.

Having taught at the school for over 26 years, Catherine has always considered it a privilege to work at one of the most culturally, ethnically and economically diverse schools in Leeds. She is proud to have contributed to the building of a school culture and curriculum that not only acknowledges but actively celebrates diversity.

Catherine is a highly experienced leader and practitioner who has led a range of curriculum and pastoral teams over nearly three decades.

Outside of school, Catherine enjoys reading, world cinema, live music and experimenting with the culinary arts.
