Transformation continues at Leeds City Academy

Leeds City Academy students, Teo, Holly, Marina and Ahmeth celebrate their results with Principal, Mr  Chattoe.

Marina said '' This day is amazing! I am so proud.  I didn’t expect these results but I tried my best.  I am looking forward to going to Elliott Hudson to study A Levels in law, business and history'' 

STUDENTS CELEBRATE SUCCESS

Mr. Richard Chattoe, Principal of Leeds City Academy, said: The entire school community is delighted to celebrate the excellent results from our amazing students. This set of results has been achieved through a great sense of collaboration and partnership that exists between our excellent staff, brilliant students & incredibly supportive parents. Many of our students face a number of barriers and despite this they have continued to flourish and achieve amazing things, we are all very proud.

Leeds City Academy is committed to working In Partnership to secure the ambition and aspiration of all students. This morning, many young people were celebrating outstanding grades with family and friends.

Holly, achieved Distinction* in business studies and five Grade 8’s in English literature and language, combined science, and French. She also secured two impressive Grade 7’s in maths and history and will now move on to study A levels at Notre Dame 6th Form College.

Emanuela, who arrived at Leeds City Academy at the end of Year 8, achieved a distinction* in BTEC music, a subject she completed as an additional after school qualification, such was her passion for the subject. She also achieved an amazing Grade 8 in maths, Grade 7 in combined science and Grade 6 results in English literature, language and history. 

Emanuela said '' I am excited to be going to Elliott Hudson to study A Levels in biology, chemistry and maths and then I will be going to University Medical School as I want to be a Consultant.''

Jennifer and Josephine both achieved wonderful results, despite English being her second language, Josephine exceeded predictions, securing Grade 7 in maths and combined science, Grade 6 in English literature, language and citizenship. She also secured a Merit in BTEC business and Grade 5 in history. Josephine also secured an impressive A* in her Dutch GCSE and will now move to study A levels at Elliot Hudson 6th Form. Jennifer received an impressive Grade 9 in Italian, Grade 8 in Spanish, Grade 9 in French and now plans to study law and even more langues at A Level at Leeds City College.  She is hoping to become an Interpreter.

Ahmeth will now move to study A levels at Notre dame as a result of exceeded expectations in English literature, BTEC music and Citizenship, achieving Grade 7, Distinction and Grade 7 respectively. In addition, he achieved an impressive Grade 6 in combined science and history and Grade 5 in maths and English language.    

This set of GCSE results represents the seismic improvements being made at Leeds City Academy and follows the academy receiving a Good Ofsted inspection grade, including an outstanding judgement for Leadership and Management, May 2019. Mr. Chattoe added: ''Our school is a truly unique and wonderful place and our students continue to strive to become the very best they can be. This year has seen significant improvement and continues the school on its transformational journey. We are all incredibly excited about the fantastic plans and ambitions we have for the next academic year.''

The Chair of the Leeds City Academy, Local Accountability Board, Mr Paul Morrissey said: ''Myself and colleagues on the Board are incredibly proud of the hard work and determination of our students and the dedication of staff in achieving these excellent results.''
