This term saw the launch of our LCA Pride Community
On a sunny Thursday, over 30 students across all of our year groups attended Leeds City Academy’s first ever LCA Pride meeting, in our school canteen. LCA Pride is our academy’s new community for students who support, or identify as, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, plus many more.
During the momentous launch event, students shared their thoughts with each other and staff on what Pride means to them and what LCA Pride could offer. We were blown away by the richness and quality of ideas from our students, and know we have some way to go to make a real difference; we aim to create a safe space for LGBT+ students and allies (supporters), enabling them to unite and form friendships, give and receive support, and discuss things that matter.
We will build upon our strong academy-community as a result so that we can continue to celebrate all our experiences and identities, in all their colours.
We are LCA Pride.
