James Steingold
Assistant Principal: Assessment and Intervention
James has over 10 years of experience teaching Mathematics. Before joining Leeds City Academy, he worked across West Yorkshire, delivering training within Maths departments and supporting schools in developing their Maths curricula. As a former Leeds SCITT Lead Tutor for Maths and Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning, James brings a deep understanding of educational research, curriculum design, and staff development.
In his previous role as Director of Maths at Leeds City Academy, he led his department to achieve the highest Mathematics results in the Academy’s history. Currently, James is focused on developing holistic systems to enhance intervention and assessment, helping teachers better understand and meet the needs of every student.
Outside of work, James enjoys an active family life with his wife and two young children. He is also a keen sportsman, playing squash competitively and pursuing a passion for climbing.
